Did you know you can do anything you’ve dreamed of doing? It’s easier than you think to actually do what you believe is a far off dream.
How do I know?
I’m doing it right now.
Over a year ago I was struggling. My 9-5 job was mundane, and I couldn’t see how I was making a difference in anyone’s life by doing it. So much of me wanted to do something to serve, but I didn’t know what to do. When I finally figured out that I wanted to be a professional organizer and a blogger I became overwhelmed with the questions of how to do it and what to do. I was scared, overwhelmed, and a little lost.
But I went for it. My husband is incredibly supportive and has pushed me to keep going after things, even when I’m hesitant or scared.
I want you to know that you can also achieve your dreams, whether it is starting a business, a charity, or even just having a tidy home.
All you need is a strong reason why you want to go for it, an internet connection (which obviously you have), and a little support.
Today I want to encourage you to go after that dream you have, no matter what it is. Let’s talk about the three big things that have gotten me to this point.
Knowing why
At the start of my journey to go get my dream, I began listening to Christy Wright’s Business Boutique Podcast. I found out about her from listening to Dave Ramsey, and I’m so glad I decided to listen! Shortly after I began listening, she released her book, Business Boutique. In it she discusses the importance of knowing your why in starting a business.
In any type of dream or goal you have, whether it is in business or in your family, you must get to the core of why you’re doing it. My why is that I want to serve women in my community doing what I love while creating income for my family.
Whatever your dream is, make sure you know why you have that dream. It will help you keep at it on the days when it’s too hard or you feel like giving up. Those days are bound to come, so it’s important to remember why you started.
As Cinderella says, “A dream is a wish your heart makes”…sorry. I’ve had to watch that waaaayyyy too many times with my toddler.
Moving on.
The right tools
The next part of achieving your dreams has to do with a bit of research and education.
Right now, we have access to so many resources because of the connectivity of our world. All you have to do is hop on the internet and search Google or Pinterest to find what you need to get started on your dream.
You can seriously find Ebooks and Ecourses on any topic where your dreams lie. If you have a dream to grow a succulent garden, there is a course for that! (I’m serious!)
For me, I researched my specific industry (professional organizing) and blogging. I have to say the business and blogging part are definitely the most mind blowing aspects of this whole shebang.
If you’re looking to start a biz or blog, let me give you some of the top resources that I use in hopes it will save you time in your research:
1 | Business Boutique Podcast
As I mentioned before, this one is amazing. Christy is a wonderful motivational speaker. It’s easy to get pumped up about running a business when you listen to this podcast. It is on my bucket list to go to the Business Boutique event in Nashville in the near future.
2 | The Goal Digger Podcast
I’ve been listening to this non-stop. Jenna has some really great podcasts for business owners from creating a brand to setting client expectations. My mind starts whirling with ideas every time I listen.
My favorite episodes are How to Find Your Secret Sauce and Stand Out in a Crowd and How to Write Your Elevator Pitch. Go check ‘em out.
3 | Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing Course
If your dream is to start a blog with the hopes of monetizing it, take this course. Michelle will teach you the right way to use affiliate marketing on your blog. I didn’t want to end up with conflicting information, so I decided to go with someone who is an authority on affiliate marketing. You can read more about her here.
This course is a one-stop resource for everything related to affiliate marketing. Plus with access to the private Facebook group, you can ask any of those things you’re not sure about to get answers from experienced bloggers.
I am so glad I invested in myself by purchasing this course. It has made blogging life so much easier. I want to make it easy for you if you have blog dreams too.
If you only plan on purchasing one course this year (which was originally my plan), get this one. If you are hesitant about spending the money, go back and think about why you want to go after your dream and if this course will help you get there sooner.

Have support
Probably the most important part of any dream is support. I’m incredibly fortunate to have a husband and family who wholeheartedly support this business venture. I also have to give a shout out to my incredible sister-in-law, Gaby, who does all the tech stuff for my website.
I know not everyone will initially have that kind of support, which is why it is essential to share your why with the people closest to you. If they can understand why this dream is important to you, it will be easier to get them on board.
Another place to find support is in Facebook groups. I am part of groups for minimalism challenges, style challenges, blogging and business support, and professional organizers. These groups offer a wealth of information, and since most people in the groups are interested in the same things, they are often great for support and motivation.
Need inspiration to get started?
If you need inspiration for going after your dream, I recommend reading The Magnolia Story. Chip and Joanna have so many dreams, and they are pros at going after them. It amazing to see the empire they’ve grown especially after reading this book. They are proof that your dreams can take you further than you expected, as long as you have the guts to do it.
So, what is your dream? If you’re afraid to go after it, just do it scared. You have nothing to lose and you may find yourself achieving things bigger than your original dream. I’ll leave you with this little prayer from Mother Angelica:
