Tired of not knowing what to wear? Here are 2 resource to help you get dressed.
Some things about being a woman are really hard. One of those things is choosing clothes and putting together outfits. It’s so frustrating to shop and choose clothes, but even more frustrating to come home and not know what to do with what you’ve chosen.
That’s probably why capsule wardrobes have become so popular. You just need a few pieces that you can mix and match. But then how do you make things more interesting and not so, um, boring?
I get compliments on my outfits, but I tell you, it’s taken years to figure it out. And most of it is all thanks to some really smart style bloggers.
Seriously. I would probably still be in the jeans and t-shirt with sneaker stage every single day.
(That’s my normal mom-iform, but I know how to make things interesting and I’m no longer afraid to throw on a dress or skirt once in a while.)
I want to tell you about two really great resources to use if you struggle to choose clothes or have a hard time putting together outfits that make you look, well, put together.
The first is Putting Me Together (PMT)
I started following this blog in 2012 and it has seriously been a lifesaver! The purpose of the blog is to teach women how to rework and remix their wardrobes. In other words, she shows you how to wear things in multiple ways.
You know how you have that top that only goes with one outfit? Time to say goodbye to that. You can learn how to shop for the right pieces when you follow PMT.
Plus, you learn the importance of completer pieces. Game changer!
Aside from the blog, Audrey has two ways to guide you through building a wardrobe. The first is through the Starter Kit Wardrobe Guides. This is for women who need a fresh start on their wardrobe. You get a shopping guide and outfits that work with all the pieces.
The second is through the Style Challenges. If you already have pieces but need to take your outfits to the next level, or you don’t want to think about what you’re going to wear for the next 40 days, this is the one for you.
I’ve done 3 challenges, and I found some serious holes in my wardrobe and that I need to change up my outfits once in a while. (Am I really that boring?)
Then there’s the Facebook group. OMG! The Facebook group is seriously the best thing happening on Facebook. The ladies are so supportive and helpful (and I’ve found myself laughing so hard at the things they’re posting).
The second resource is Get Your Pretty On (GYPO)
I only learned about GYPO a couple of years ago when a teacher friend of mine started raving about it. It was so much easier for her to shop this way, and she was so happy with all the compliments she received on her outfits.
You can do a style challenge, but there are a lot of capsule wardrobes available.
The capsule wardrobe guides are available in both wear to work and casual styles for different seasons (I’ve linked the latest, which are for summer). Or you can get year-round wardrobe builder guides for Closet Staples, French Minimalist, and SAHM Casual Basics.
What I have is the Big Book of Outfit Formulas which includes over 300 outfit ideas! It breaks down the shopping lists and outfits by season. And they are really cute 🙂
What you should know:
Registration for the GYPO Fall 2018 Capsule Wardrobe is open! It costs $39, and you receive the shopping list and the first 7 out of 23 outfits when you sign up (you get the rest after the refund period). Plus, you also get access to the Fall 2017 Capsule Wardrobe, so more outfits!
Personally, I think GYPO outfits are more dressy. I prefer the style of PMT because it feels more friendly for moms with little kids.
If you’re truly struggling to shop for clothes or don’t really feel put together, both of these blogs are great resources for you. I mean, they literally have stuff to tell you what to buy and what to wear. How easy is that?
So, seriously, go change your life and get yourself a PMT Starter Kit Wardrobe Guides, a GYPO Closet Staples wardrobe, or go all out with the latest PMT or GYPO style challenges!
