I know what you’re thinking: putting systems in your home is way too time-consuming and complicated. Spending all that time to clean things up or put away the laundry takes away from the precious little time you have. You don’t have time to figure out where to put stuff, so you just shove things in drawers and closets so it’s out of sight, out of mind.
The problem is, it is still on your mind.
Physical clutter causes you to burn more mental energy. How? Because it causes you to make more decisions, and decisions take brainpower. If you don’t have a system in place to know what to do with each thing you own, you’re going to get tired making decision after decision after decision.
Research has shown that we make an average of 35,000 decisions per day! (As a mom, I think I make double that amount.)
Systems prevent decision fatigue and saves time and energy to work on the priorities in your life.
There are 4 main systems that are crucial to an efficient and organized home: organizing, cleaning, laundry, and paper.
I’ll be teaching how to structure and implement all 4 of these systems in the course, The Essential Home Organizing Blueprint.
How does each of these systems give me my time back instead of taking more of it?
Organizing System
You know how new stuff is constantly flowing into your home? That new stuff needs to go somewhere, and you have to decide where.
If you have a standardized way of deciding what will stay and understand how to give each item a place in your home, you won’t waste time or energy.
I’ll be revealing the exact system I use to make immediate decisions about clutter and where to put each item in this upcoming free Masterclass. Using this system allows me to use my energy toward raising my family and running a business.
Cleaning System
I talked to someone who said they hire a housecleaner to come once a month but they spend several frantic hours before the housecleaner comes to clean up things around the house.
That seems a little backward to me.
I don’t currently have a housecleaner but when I clean my house it takes less than 10 minutes to put away a couple of things before I get started. I have specific, quick routines that keep my house clean every day so that when I do actual house cleaning.
Cleaning my house has a standardized system that makes it go quickly and painlessly.
Laundry System
Is laundry the bane of your existence? It’s not for me.
Yes, there are days I don’t want to do laundry. But there’s a system in place that keeps me on track. I end each day without baskets of clean laundry waiting to be put away.
Create a system and you’re in control.
Paper System
If laundry isn’t the bane of your existence, paper might be. Paper can get out of control fast, and it can add so many items to your to-do list that it’s easier to ignore it and go binge-watch Suits.
Knowing how to categorize papers and take action on them is one of the most essential pieces of home organization. I’ve spent countless hours helping clients sort through paper. I’m telling you, all those hours can be avoided by putting a system in place.
Inside the Essential Home Organizing Blueprint, I spill all the secrets to my signature system, the CEO Day Framework. You’ll only sort through one pile of paper, take action on it, and take care of other items on your to-do list during a set time every week.
Sound constricting? Not at all. It’s incredibly freeing to know that I don’t have to make time to do all those things. I already have time in my schedule so I can focus on my true priorities.
Have I convinced you yet?
Creating systems simplifies the decision-making process and gives you the freedom to direct mental energy toward projects that light you up. You can focus on your priorities because you know that organizing, cleaning, laundry, and paper are almost on automation …almost.
