One of the most important keys to success in working from home? Having an inspiring home office.
I spent half of my work from home career in spaces that were not inspiring. My workspaces were usually an afterthought to everything else that was happening in the house.
And I was sick of it.
So for my 30th birthday, I decided to take my home office to the next level with a new layout and new stuff.
In other words, I got intentional about planning out an inspiring home office.
While working with clients, I’ve found that those who have a clear vision in their minds of their goals are the most successful. So I’ve made it a point to work with clients and students on creating a vision.
While it’s harder to do it for myself, I used this same technique in my own office.
After pulling together images on Pinterest, I created an office space that I LOVE to be in.
Here’s an example of how using a vision board can help you create an organized, cohesive, inspiring home office (or any space).
The pieces I chose for my office were all collected on a budget, scoped out, and priced out, before going shopping at IKEA, Minted, Target, Dollar Tree, HomeGoods, Container Store.

How to design your own inspiring home office
Start by looking at a Pinterest board where you’ve been collecting ideas to pull out recurring elements you appear to like.
Next, set a budget for your space. Look for pieces in places like Target, Walmart, and HomeGoods, then move to higher budget stores for specific items you want.
Save the items you choose onto a Pinterest board to create a vision board.
Now you’re all set to create your inspiring space!
I challenge you to take these steps to pull together an inspiring space of your own. (And if you need help doing this, check out my Virtual Organizing services …you get a vision board with your plan!)
