Is it better to have someone show you the process rather than doing it yourself? Before we moved into our new house, we wanted to put a fresh coat of paint on the walls. We were faced with a choice: spend a week doing it ourselves with hand rollers and paintbrushes or hire professionals with paint sprayers to do it in two days.
We chose the latter.
Doing it yourself is totally fine, but when you want to get the job done and done well, find someone who knows what they’re doing and has the tools to do it.
From outsourcing house cleaning to having someone shop for groceries for you, it’s about saving you time so you do things only you can do or that you want to be doing.
Saving time is one of the reasons people choose to work with a professional organizer. You probably know that organizing can be a time-consuming, emotional process that gets put off again and again for those very reasons.
Here’s how my 3-phase process for professional organizing, in-person or virtually, can save you time and headaches versus doing it yourself.
Visualize & Plan
In phase 01 of the process, we visualize and plan. We have to lay some groundwork so we know what your idea of success is and how you want each space to look at the end.
We discuss the spaces that are on your radar to get organized. Once I understand the goal and purpose for each space, I can determine which space to start with.
For example, your kids’ bedroom may be your first priority, but we need to clear an office space first to make space for items being moved to that room. (This is where that expertise comes in handy.)
If we’re working in person, we calendar a session day. On the day of, I’m at your house ready to take the lead and get your space organized.
If we’re working virtually, you’ll send me a Home Tour of the space we’re working on explaining your ideas, your needs, and pain points in that space. From there, I craft a step-by-step plan for you to follow.
Take Action
Phase 02 is about taking action. Now that we’ve laid the groundwork and have a plan, it’s time to start organizing.
As I said, if we’re working together in person, I’ll take the lead to get your space organized.
If we’re working together virtually, you’ll receive your personalized Action Plan about a week after submitting your Home Tour. Your space is broken up into smaller sections to focus on with each step laid out for you.
If you are eligible for an inspiration board, you’ll also receive it along with your Action Plan. Seeing your inspiration board will motivate and excite you about the possibilities for your space.
Because I know getting started is difficult, you can book a Start-Up Session to get extra coaching and support as you begin organizing your space.
Additionally, you get access to cheat sheets and checklists to help you declutter. And you can always send me questions and concerns throughout the process.
Craft Your Space & Execute Routines
In the final phase, we pull together the space with new or repurposed organizing products and implement routines.
You’ll have a place to put everything you’ve decided to keep, making it easier and more motivating to keep your space organized. We’ll discuss how to fit organized habits and routines into your rhythm of life —making small changes makes a big difference.
In this phase we’ll make any adjustments to your spaces so they’re really working for you.
Then we’re ready to move on to organizing your next space!
This 3-phase process is faster and easily done with a professional organizer versus doing it yourself.
