Over the years as a home photographer, I’ve learned tips to take beautiful iPhone photos. Each year, my goal is to create a family yearbook so good photos are a must.
For a long time, I wanted to invest in a real camera. But having a camera I can stick in my pocket makes more sense. I’ve learned that I can get good-quality photos from my iPhone with some practice.
If you want beautiful photos, whether for a family yearbook or to share online, here are 3 tips to take beautiful iPhone photos.
Clean your lens
Have you ever noticed some of your pictures looking cloudy and the colors not as bright? This is usually the result of a dirty lens.
Before you start shooting, do a quick wipe of your camera lens for the best quality pictures. It’s best to use a lens cloth (like what you’d get from the optometrist). But if you’re in a rush, just do a quick wipe with a soft fabric.
Use the grid lines
Turn the grid lines on and in your camera settings. Doing so will help you make your photos visually interesting. Many photos are better not perfectly centered. Use your grid lines to fill two of the three columns (known as the rule of thirds).
Edit your photos
I have no idea why but in years past, I’ve always been nervous about changing things from their original state. But editing photos can bring them to life. (Which is what professional photographers do.)
Your iPhone comes with all the editing tools you need, as well as preset filters. Experiment with the different tools and filters. If you don’t like what you did just hit the “revert to original” and start over.
