I know I’m not the only one who suffers from too many photos on an iPhone. Organizer that I am, I admit my iPhone photo situation hasn’t always been a cakewalk. BUT over the last year, it’s gotten better. And if I can make that hot mess better, then you, too, can certainly transform how you organize your iPhone photos.
By transform, I mean is that changing the way I take photos and use my iPhone for photo storage. All it takes is some mental adjustment and a new habit to get it organized.
Use these 3 quick tips to transform how you organize your iPhone photos.
Take fewer photos
I learned my lesson going through 50 photos of my toddler watching a Disneyland parade. It wasn’t fun going through practically the same picture 50 times. And even your mom won’t enjoy looking at the same picture 50 times, grandmother that she is.
Rather than taking a whole bunch of photos, take one or two intentional photos. (Unless of course you have kids that move a lot. Take a few more.) Doing this makes it easier to go through photos later. You’re also able to be part of the moment instead of on the side, documenting it.
Taking fewer, better photos takes practice, but the more you practice, the better your shots get.
Plus, you have fewer photos to sort through (see the next tip).
Purge frequently
If I took a lot of pictures in a single day, I make an effort to look through them in the evening. I delete any blurry, unflattering, or repeated pictures. (And floor pictures. I’ve been taking a lot of floor pictures lately.)
This saves me a lot of time later when I download my pictures to my computer for safe storage. There’s no need to declutter because I’ve already done it.
Deleting unnecessary photos saves a lot of storage on my iPhone. I often get those alerts “Your iPhone is almost out of storage.”
This brings me to the final tip …
Temporary storage
iPhone storage is limited. I can’t dedicate my entire phone only to photos. For this reason, I look at my iPhone as temporary storage …like a memory card. I don’t organize photos on my iPhone, since I have to organize them once they’re on my PC and ready to go into permanent storage.
So that I don’t run out of storage or become overwhelmed by the number of photos, I download all my photos from my iPhone every month or two. Then I delete the photos from my iPhone.
Any time I want to access these photos, I can pull them up from my cloud storage or from the shared albums my family uses through Apple.
These 3 tips will transform how you organize your iPhone photos and free up storage space on your phone!
