Have you read a lot of books but accidentally forgot to keep track of what you’ve read? Over the last couple of years, I’ve posted what I’m reading on Instagram only to realize I need a better way to keep track of my reading life.
In the past, I tried Goodreads. It’s a great tool for finding reviews on books and looking up quotes. But I wouldn’t say I like the fact that notes are public.
I’ve also tried a simple reading log. I am more consistent but I had no place to write notes.
Then, while browsing the Cultivate shop, I stumbled upon the Cultivated Reading Journal.
It was everything I needed and more.
Here’s why the Cultivated Reading Journal is the best way to keep track of your reading life.
Record tracking pages
What I love most about the Cultivated Reading Journal is the full-page spread for taking notes and writing down quotes from books.
Previously, I’ve tried copying quotes into a Copy Bank in Asana. But as a rule, I don’t keep my tablet or my smartphone in my room, and I mostly read before bed. Now I keep this journal on my nightstand so I can write down quotes and thoughts as I read.
In addition to writing down the title, author, start and end dates (typical components of a reading log) I can rate books, note who recommended them, and mark how I consumed the content.
The Cultivated Reading Journal has space for 100 books …if you aim to read 100 books this year, grab your journal before the new year begins!
Books to Read list
I’m constantly on the lookout for new books to read. Before, I would make a list on Goodreads, create a list through the library, or save the book to an Amazon wishlist. But I would be inconsistent and forget to check three different lists for which books to read.
Now I can keep my list all in one place without logging into a million different websites.
Track books loaned or borrowed
I don’t often loan out books but the times that I have, it’s been hard to get them back. Since I spend a lot of energy building up our home library, I want to make sure to keep track of my books.
The Cultivated Reading Journal includes a section where I can jot down books loaned and borrowed.
Now I’m wondering if I can get a personalized stamp to add to my books …
Other cool ways to track your reading life with the Cultivated Reading Journal
Although my only parameters were to keep track & jot down notes about books, this reading journal offers so much more! It includes space to make lists of favorite and recommended books, a reading habit tracker, and a favorite quotes section.
I appreciate the “Bucket List” section with lots of ideas for finding and choosing books I wouldn’t normally choose.
How I’ll use the Cultivated Reading Journal for homeschooling
Right now, I use my journal for my personal reads. I’m purchasing another journal for my student and me to use as we read books together.
We often use books as the curriculum to study history & social studies in our homeschool. Additionally, we’ve virtually cut out TV by replacing it with audiobooks. So much of our family culture comes from the books we’ve read!
This journal will be a beautiful way to remember all of our reading adventures and keep track of study hours!
Keep Track of Your Reading Life
I’ve tried all the digital ways of keeping notes & quotes on books. Nothing beats a physical journal, and the Cultivated Reading Journal is an organized way to keep track.
And here’s something I didn’t think of until I read the product description: this journal is a perfect keepsake for the generations to come after me!
